Background
Australia Awards Scholarships (AAS) are prestigious international awards offered by the Australian Government to the next generation of global leaders for development. Through study and research, recipients develop the skills and knowledge to drive change and help build enduring people-to-people links with Australia. Australia Awards Timor-Leste (AATL) is managed by Palladium International on behalf of the Australian Government.
Australia Awards has been delivered in Timor-Leste since 2000. The awards support long-term education in Australia at Bachelor, Masters, and Doctoral levels, targeting priority human resource and development needs in Timor-Leste as aligned with the priorities of the Australian development program. As of 31 December 2024, 393 alumni (43% women, including six men with a disability and one woman with a disability) have successfully completed studies in Australia.
Purpose of Position
The ADIS Coordinator is a short-term consultant position for up to 25 days and is responsible for managing the implementation of the online survey, ensuring its effectiveness, accuracy, and timely completion. The Coordinator will oversee data collection, quality control, data analysis and reporting.
Primary Responsibilities
- Set up and test the online survey to ensure functionality and user-friendliness
- Disseminate the approved survey to the alumni contact list
- Monitor survey progress and provide troubleshooting support to respondents
- Undertake follow-up with non-respondents
- Ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and security of collected data
- Compile and clean survey data for analysis
- Undertake data analysis and identify preliminary key findings
- Present key findings and insights to AATL staff to check validity of analysis
- Draft and finalise the survey report summarising survey objectives, methodology, key findings, challenges, and recommendations
- Contribute to process improvement through suggestion of cost-effective and innovative approaches
Minimum Qualifications
- At least a bachelor's degree in social sciences, statistics, research methods, or related field
- Demonstrated ability to set up and manage online survey implementation (using SurveyMonkey), use Excel for data cleaning, charting and pivot table analysis, and prepare draft/final survey reports
- Demonstrated work experience supporting monitoring, evaluation and learning activities for NGOs, development agencies, or Australian Government-funded programs
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret survey data
- Familiarity with ethical considerations in survey research
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently as well as to collaborate effectively with others
- Confident in written and spoken English
- Being a graduate of an Australian University and/or alumni of the Australia Awards Scholarship program is an advantage
Duration & Work Arrangement
- The contract period is expected to be for up to 25 days between May-June 2025
- The work will be conducted at the AATL offices located at Level 2, CBD5, Timor Plaza, Dili
