About the Role

World Vision Timor-Leste is seeking an exceptional and visionary National Director (ND) to lead the Field Office and drive impactful change for children and communities across the country.

As National Director, you will provide strategic leadership for World Vision Timor-Leste, ensuring high-quality programming, organizational effectiveness, strong donor and community accountability, and alignment with World Vision's global strategy. This role requires an experienced leader who is passionate about transformational development and comfortable engaging at the highest levels with government leaders, development partners, civil society, donors, and the media.

The successful candidate will model authentic Christian leadership, demonstrating integrity, servant leadership, and a commitment to World Vision's Vision, Mission, and Core Values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to advance child well-being outcomes across Timor-Leste
  • Lead the development and delivery of ministry objectives in a predominantly grant-funded environment
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with government, civil society, donors, and development partners
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and organizational standards
  • Drive resource mobilization efforts and secure diverse funding opportunities
  • Promote strong financial stewardship and organizational sustainability
  • Foster a positive, high-performing organizational culture and people leadership
  • Lead preparedness and response efforts during emergencies and humanitarian crises

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience, preferably in international NGOs or global development organizations
  • Strong understanding of the Asia-Pacific region and the social, political, economic, and cultural context of Timor-Leste
  • Degree in International Development, Business Administration, Public Health, Social Sciences, Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Proven success in grant acquisition, donor engagement, and strategic resource development
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational strategy, systems, structures, and culture
  • Experience in disaster management, development programming, policy influence, and social accountability initiatives
  • Strong cross-cultural leadership skills with experience working in diverse international environments
  • Knowledge of major donors including DFAT, MFAT, EU, UNICEF, and USAID
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Deep commitment to social justice, child well-being, and Christian values
