About SJG Outreach Services Timor-Leste

SJG Outreach Services (SJGOS) Timor-Leste has been operating the capacity building Nursing Development Program (NDP) in Timor-Leste in partnership with the Ministry of Health since 2010. The program is part of a wider commitment to Timor-Leste, including Education and Training, Quality, and Leadership and Management Programs.

The Position

SJGOS Timor-Leste is seeking a Finance Officer to join their administrative team. The role involves supporting expatriate SJGHC staff and Timorese nurses and midwives in the Hospital Nacional Guido Valadares and some municipal Referral Hospitals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the financial system and manage all financial records
  • Support the Support Services and Finance Manager and Country Manager in developing and implementing efficient systems and policies
  • Ensure good teamwork with other caregivers in the support service team
  • Contribute to the success of SJGOS development programs

Criteria for the Role

  • Willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Fluent or competent in English and Tetun
  • Minimum of one year's experience in a similar administrative and finance role
  • Experience in budgeting, cash handling, and maintaining financial records
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, Word, and basic spreadsheets
  • Timorese driver's license

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience in finance and administrative roles
  • Graduate or post-graduate qualification(s) in finance, accounting, business administration, or data management
  • Fluency or competence in Bahasa Indonesia and basic understanding of Portuguese
