Medical Doctor/Counsellor

Background

PRADET (Psychosocial Recovery and Development in East Timor) was established as a national NGO since 2002. Our mission is to provide comprehensive psychosocial services for individuals experiencing trauma, mental illness, domestic and gender-based violence, human trafficking, and other complex psychosocial challenges.

PRADET is currently seeking a qualified and compassionate Male or Female Medical Doctor/Counsellor to support forensic medical examination services and counseling for survivors of GBV (Gender-Based Violence) and other relevant psychosocial issues in Timor-Leste.

Main Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic medical examinations and collect evidence for service delivery to GBV survivors
• Ensure the confidentiality of information regarding GBV survivors
• Develop case management plans from initial problem identification through case closure
• Provide technical support to counselors referring related cases, handle referrals to partners, and plan case reintegration into the community
• Ensure immediate/early detection of injuries sustained by survivors and recommend medical treatment actions to health facilities, including providing minor medical treatments available at Fatin Hakmatek
• Consult on complex cases as necessary with Fatin Hakmatek staff and assist in recommending solutions

Required Qualifications & Experience

• General Practitioner (Medical Doctor), certified to perform medical examinations
• 3 years of experience understanding or working as a medical examiner
• Work experience with victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is a strong advantage
• Criminal record check document
• Strong communication skills in English and Portuguese are a good advantage
