Background

In Timor-Leste, Plan International works with communities, partners, and stakeholders to promote children's rights and equality for girls through programmes that support vulnerable children and young people.

Role Purpose

The purpose of the role is to provide safe and efficient transportation services to support Plan International Timor-Leste's programmes and operations. The Driver ensures the timely movement of staff, visitors, and materials, while maintaining vehicles in good working condition and complying with all safety and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean vehicle and perform routine checks to ensure it has proper working tools on a daily basis
  • Refuel vehicle using an approved fuel voucher and record this on the vehicle log sheet and vehicle tracker system timeously
  • Park vehicle safely at designated place at the end of each working day
  • Ensure that after hours travels have prior formal approval by the admin department
  • Ensure vehicle movement log book is filled timely, accurately, regularly and signed by the passengers
  • Report immediately to the Admin and Fleet Officer, all accidents or issues involving Plan International Timor Leste vehicles
  • Compliance to the Global Fleet manual specially on motor vehicle and travel policy of Plan International Timor Leste
  • Maintain punctuality and courtesy and adhere to Government traffic laws and regulations
  • Transport staff and designated people to all areas as instructed and with approved vehicle request forms
  • Ensure online daily vehicle check in TrackPoint are conducted regularly
  • Ferry goods to required points as may be directed from time to time
  • Ensure vehicles have necessary materials such as umbrellas, first aid box, map, fire extinguishers etc.
  • Ensure that all Plan International Timor Leste assets are not left unattended in the vehicle whilst parked
  • File in accurately vehicle log books and submit to the Admin and Fleet Officer
  • Prepare monthly vehicles' maintenance reports for allocated vehicles
  • Control Regular Maintenance A for plan Vehicle in Office
  • Ensure that Plan International's global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Good communication, interpersonal and mechanical skills
  • Class B drivers' license
  • Advanced or Ordinary level certificate
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in vehicle maintenance and driving
  • Work experience in an NGO setup will be an added advantage
  • Any relevant certification in driving/clerical services will be an added advantage

Desirable:

  • Maintain image of the organization by example and outmost professionalism
  • Show courtesy and respectful towards individual, colleagues, superiors and visitors
  • Be dynamic, patient and a good time keeper
  • Ability to listen and pay attention to details
  • Good team player
