We have an opportunity for an Agricultural Officer (AO) to be part of Projetu HADALA. The Agriculture Officer is responsible for supporting the management of Agriculture Project Activities in creating manuals/modules, training programs (Training of Trainer -TOT and Training of Partners - TOP), and updating the partner's (farmers) information card, cultivation, transplanting, production, and annual income.
The Agriculture Officer requires strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks, take initiative, and problem-solve during daily activities. The Senior Agriculture Officer should be confident working independently as well as with a large and diverse team.
Duties and responsibilities
- Create a Manual for agricultural training
- Create awareness/training programs for natural and organic farming for farmers.
- Search and contact new farmers, through Farmer's meetings, regular Follow Up, and resolving the queries of the Farmer to convert non-organic to organic.
- Supervise the farmers and crops of concerned projects from time to time.
- Supervise harvesting and proper dispatches as per the farmer's production.
- Supervise compost, Fertilizer, and pesticide production
- Supervise on collecting local materials and ingredients for producing compost, Fertilizer, and pesticide
- Supervise on purchasing agricultural seeds and tools
- Implement the Internal Controls for organic production.
- Random check of the internal inspections.
- Need to prepare documents or/reports for seed sowing, crop transplanting, crop production, and annual income.
- Support work with the project agriculture experts; Accompany the project site with experts to project site when necessary
- Follow the consultant of experts
- Should be comfortable traveling to different Project locations (Aileu, Ainaro, and Liquisa).
Experiences and Skills:
- Bachelor Degree/Diploma (Agriculture) or relevant field.
- Good knowledge and experience in Natural and Organic farming for a minimum of 2
- Good Knowledge of Agriculture Commodities (Ex: Bock choi, Lettuce, Cabbage, Morning glory, Green Onion, Bitter Gourd, Strawberry, and Watermelon).
- Good knowledge of producing compost, fertilizers, and pesticides
- Should be a good team player with multitasking abilities.
- Ability to manage and prioritize a busy and varied workload;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work proactively;
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office programs;
- Fluency in the English language.
