About Women and Youth Creating Our Future (WYCF)

The Women and Youth Creating Our Future (WYCF) is a 5-year program funded by the US Government in Timor-Leste. Its goal is to support Institute of Business (IOB) to launching a center for entrepreneurship and employment called SENTRU to strengthen the workforce readiness, and technical and entrepreneurship skills of Timorese youth (including out-of-schools) and adult women.

Position summary:

The Hospitality Trainer will be fully responsible for teaching and learning process such plan, develop and design methodology and pedagogic to teach Hospitality to Youth/students at IOB SENTRU. The Hospitality trainer will be working together with Diretor SENTRU to identify specific needs of Hospitality skill to be taught to youth/students. The Hospitality trainer will prepare detail lesson plans and prepare teaching and learning resources requires for youth/student.

Specific duties and responsibility for Hospitality Trainer

  • Curriculum Plan - develop Hospitality syllabus/module/lesson plan for teaching and learning to achieve outcomes.
  • Educational training materials – develop elaborate and compile Hospitality training resources and training needs for students teaching and learning process. Create resources and instructional materials using digital technology to improve student expertise.
  • Teaching and learning strategy – applying method and best approach of leaning style to teach students, use appropriate methodology to apply to students for the leaning focus to meet the goal.
  • Organizing training – organize, coordinate and lead training session, provide training equipment for students practical learning and ensuring the training delivery based on the session plan.
  • Evaluation/Assessment – conduct regular monitor, assess and evaluate student participation to gain skill and knowledge about Hospitality course and provide feedback.

General duties and responsibilities for Hospitality Trainer

  • Student performance - Assessing grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
  • Reporting - reporting student learning outcomes, class reviews, and analyzing student data.
  • Coaching and mentorship - Providing mentorship, guidance, counselling and support service to student if needed.
  • Design and promotional - assisting in the design of promotional materials such as brochures, fliers, or business cards for student events
  • Desk research - conducting research related to topics of Hospitality.

Other Task Required

  • Administration work – Assist and support student application and registration and prepare student attendance sheet.
  • On-Job Training/Internship – Assist and facilitate SENTRU with Business association on students on job training/internship opportunity and placement.
  • Lab hygiene - Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of all the practical labs in the SENTRU. Trainer will maintain order of the labs before, during and after lessons.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities

Education and experience required:

The Hospitality trainers minimally have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • University degree in Hospitality, Tourism or management or equivalent qualifications. 
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as an Hospitality Trainer. 
  • Must have Competency on teaching methodology/pedagogy skill
  • Trainer requires to have Creative Thinking, Communication, Organizational, Leadership and Teamwork Ability, Time Management, Role Model and understand of youth/student assessment.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively through speech and writing.
  • Ability to identify, communicate, and analyze problems.
  • Ability to take ownership and utilize constructive feedback.
  • Must be punctual, professional, and ethically conduct oneself.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work respectfully within a team environment.
  • Ability to speak English
