Executive Assistant to Ambassador

The Australian Embassy, Dili is seeking a highly motivated and experienced person to fill the long term position of Executive Assistant to Ambassador (Locally engaged staff, level 4), working across its political team.  

Australia has been at the forefront of international support for Timor-Leste since independence in 2002 and remains Timor-Leste’s largest development and security partner. Australia is committed to supporting Timor-Leste’s development priorities and maintains a deep interest in Timor-Leste’s future prosperity. Our development program focusses on health security, stability and economic recovery.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate achievement against the following selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated corporate services experience in a busy office environment, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven capabilities in managing and overseeing staff.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Tetun, including with senior government officials (orally and in writing). Knowledge of Portuguese is an advantage but not essential.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in manage high volumes of work and working under pressure.

Applicants should also have the following qualifications and/or experience.

  • Qualifications in a relevant field is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

The salary for this position is USD$16,608 per annum.

Other requirements

Successful applicants are required to obtain a satisfactory police clearance and medical check.  The position will involve travel in Timor-Leste.
