The Role
The VSLA and Livelihood Officer will oversee the implementation of all VSLA and livelihood activities of the project. This role will support the project manager in establishing the Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and food production groups that provides women with financial resources and knowledge to lead agricultural initiatives, supporting their economic independence and ability to contribute to family health.
Main Responsibilities
- Design and implement the VSLA and Livelihood plans and field activities for the project, ensure the gender equality frameworks intergeneration, and monitor regularly gender markers and the use of gender transformative tools.
- Conduct regular visits to the community and facilitate community meetings to ensure that all VSLA and livelihood related activities are implemented effectively
- Lead and facilitate a community consultation to identify needs, priorities and opportunities for VSLA and livelihood development.
- Establish a strong relationship with community members, local leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure community ownership and sustainability of programs.
- Promote inclusive participation, particularly of women and marginalized groups, in all VSLA and livelihood activities
- Coordinate the capacity development activities on VSLA and livelihood methodologies to improve women's capacity to lead income generating activities to strengthen household income and community resilience
- Coordinate the beneficiary selection of the VSLA and livelihood components of the project
- Support the monitoring of the project activities related to VSLA and livelihood
- Lead and develop all reports related to the VSLA and livelihood activities related to the project
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor's degree in community study, economics, entrepreneurship and other relevant areas
- Practical knowledge with solid experience in implementing VSLA and livelihood activities preferably in nutrition related projects
- Strong networking skills to collaborate with municipal and local level structures
- Strong negotiation, facilitation and influencing skills especially with local communities and municipal level structures
- Understanding of potential gender barriers in nutrition components.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in Tetum and Intermediate level English.
- Strong numeracy skills.
- Very good working knowledge of common office software packages
