This is an exciting opportunity to join a long-term partner to Timor-Leste’s ongoing development. The Technical Coordinator, Prevention will support implementation of activities under the Prevention Pillar of the Nabilan workplan. The work under the Prevention pillar will contribute to the End of Program Outcome, “Individuals, communities and institutions act to prevent violence against women and children”. The Technical Coordinator for Prevention will lead the implementation of Nabilan’s engagement with feminist movements in Timor-Leste, in particular Nabilan’s feminist leadership initiative Bin Alin Hakbiit Malu (BAHM) and further steps to advance this initiative. The Technical Coordinator will also contribute to other prevention-related activities under this pillar. Prevention pillar work involves liaison with government, partner organisations, other EVAWC focused organisations and programs, civil society and feminist and activist movements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Nabilan’s feminist engagement work through feminist and activist networks
- Facilitate BAHM sessions and mentor others to do the same
- Support and engage in other prevention programming
- Provide prevention training to relevant entities inside and outside of the sector
- Ensure all prevention interventions are implemented safely with appropriate psychosocial support
- Assist the Deputy Team Leader with government coordination
- Promote best practice and evidence exchange with other relevant stakehoders
- Support the learning and mentoring of relevant personnel and work collaboratively with all team members
- Contribute to program learnings, adaptations, and research
- Be willing to extend role where needed and take on other duties as assigned
Selection Criteria
- Minimum university bachelor’s degree in social work, social science, gender studies or other related field
- A minimum of five years of previous experience on programs aimed at EVAWC and gender equality
- A minimum of two years of experience in a coordination role
- Demonstrated experience in gender-transformative facilitation
- Experience in mentoring staff working in the prevention of VAWC
- A strong understanding of and commitment to feminist values, principles, and promotion of gender equality
- A commitment to modelling personal behaviours consistent with feminist practice
- Creativity and innovation in identifying initiatives for furthering Nabilan’s work under the Prevention pillar
- Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and Tetum
